HOW OYO STATE GOVERNOR'S WIFE, FLORENCE AJIMOBI WAS ALLEGED TO HAVE BEEN CAUGHT IN LONDON WITH ABOUT 400,000 P0UNDS

London Metropolitan Police has confirmed the arrest of Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, wife of Oyo state Governor, over  money laundering.
The Met confirmation came this afternoon following an enquiry by P.M.NEWS on the story making the headlines that Mrs. Ajimobi was arrested in London, with the sum of 400,000 pounds and thousands of US dollars, valued at N500million.

There was anxiety in the government circles of Nigeria’s Oyo State  this morning over the arrest of Mrs. Ajimobi.
Reports on the web and some blogs claimed that the woman was arrested two weeks ago by the London Metropolitan Police on her 52nd trip to the UK since her husband became governor 17 months ago.
London Met Police has not issued any statement about her alleged arrest. And her name drew blank in a search of the Met Police website by P.M.NEWS.
The unconfirmed reports claimed that Governor Abiola Ajimobi has had to fly to the UK to get her bailed. Mrs. Ajimobi has a North London address in Golders Green and ordinarily visits the UK.
So far, the Oyo state government has kept mute over this story. And the disappearance of Governor Ajimobi from Ibadan, the capital for some two days has further given some ammunition to the purveyors of the news about his wife, styled The First Lady of Oyo state.
Governor Ajimobi was in office today, but bearers of the tale about the wife, have been unrelenting.
Mrs. Ajimobi’s personal staff at Agodi have also not issued denials of any sort.
Miss Yemisi Dada, Special Assistant on Media to Chief Mrs. Ajimobi on a phone interaction at exactly 8:11am claimed that she was not in Ibadan at the time of the telephone conversation adding that she was not aware of such development.
“I cannot talk about that. I am not aware of what you are talking about and besides, I am not in Ibadan right now. Meanwhile, I will find out the correct situation and get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks”.

GO FOR BICYCLES AND LEAVE OKADA LIKE THOSE IN LONDON----LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT

This is coming at a time when the state government is still embroiled in controversy with the Okada riders over their restriction to ride on some highways in the city and a recent clampdown on them for defaulting the new Lagos Traffic law.
Discouraging the use of okada on walkable distance, the Commissioner stated that “anybody who wants to take a bike (okada) from their house to the bus stop, should use their bicycles.”
“And when they (commuters in Lagos) get to the bus stop they should tie their bikes to the poles provided at the bus stop and join the BRT buses.” “The poles we

OUR OPINION: ARIK AIRLINE AND HOW THE SHOUT OF ALLAHU AKBAR BECAME AN ABORMINATION

One of the long lasting wars any man can fight in life,  is a war of perception. It is not something you can touch or diagnose in the microscope. It is psychological. That was why it took him just a night to take them physically out of the land of Egypt. But, over forty years it took him to get Egypt off their minds.  This is why everyone must be careful how he lives. What do people say about you? Who do men say I am? This was asked by the Holy one. When and where does praising the name of God become a crime? Why must I be given a second thought because I belong to a particular faith?

This became an issue on board, when a gentle man on an Enugu bound Arik aircrafts stood up boldly in the midst of other passengers on board to praise his God. He shouted Allahu Akbar! It Might be that he just won a lottery or his wife just put to bed. Which I believe he could not hold it to himself alone but to shout Allahu  Akbar. He must have probably expected others to join him

OUR OPINION: THE NIGERIAN SECURITY FORCES CAN WORK IF THEY REALLY WANT TO WORK

Sometimes, I wonder how the Nigerian Security Forces operate and handle rescue missions. Who do they own their loyalty? Who controls the police? On Syria crisis, Romney expects the United States to play a more leadership role by arming a coordinated rebel group.Obama believes America has always maintained her leadership role on Syria but does not really see a reason why the rebels should be armed. He wanted America to work more with friends in the region.in summary, two of them are still at par at the moment but Romney seems to be diverting towards the state of the economy to boost his argument.i Think that is working for him now.

IF THERE IS ANYTHING THE ONDO ELECTION HAS ACHIEVED , IT IS TO PUNCTURE THE INFLATED AND OVER-RATED GLORIFICATION OF TINUBU AND HIS TALISMANIC ACN---UGOCHUKWU RAYMOND

A traditional African adage states that “the time a dead man’s funeral arrangements are being discussed is also the best time to discuss who is to inherit the dead man’s widow.”

The gubernatorial contest in Ondo state may have come and gone but the ripples will continue to reverberate within political circles across the Nigeria space. The election was remarkable in so many respects: First, it was an electoral contest that involved the two dominant political parties - the PDP and the ACN - deploying every ammunition in their weaponry to snatch power from a relatively miniature opponent - the Labour Party.
Second, the election became a litmus-test for ACN’s acclaimed invincibility and its quest for total political control of the South-Western region. In specific terms, the election offered one last chance for the ACN’s benefactor - Bola Ahmed Tinubu - to annex the only

AMERICAN ELECTION: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SWING STATES

What is a "swing state"? What is the definition of the term "swing state"?

In politics, a "swing state" is a state in which neither party (Republican or Democrat) can claim a decisive historical advantage. For this reason, a "swing state" could vote either way, which makes integral states to campaign in.

Some examples of swing states: Ohio, Florida

Ohio and Florida are both considered "swing states" because they could both go to either the Democrats or Republicans in any given election year. For that reason, Presidential candidates will spend a tremendous amount of resources on these two states. If you win both Ohio and Florida, then there is a very good chance that you will win the Presidency.

States that traditionally vote one way are considered "safe states".

Note: another name for a swing state is a "battleground state".

HOW A HIGH PROFILE BOKO HARAM SECT MEMBER WAS CAUGHT AT A SENATOR'S HOUSE IN MAIDUGURI

Wonder shall never end. It was reported this evening that a high-profile member of Islamist extremist group Boko Haram was caught at the home of a senator in the violence-torn Nigerian city of Maiduguri.
The statement from a military task force in Maiduguri did not name the senator and provided few other details. There have been allegations of links between elements of Boko Haram and local politicians in the past.
“A high-profile Boko Haram commander, one Shuaibu Mohammed Bama, who has been on the list of wanted terrorists … was arrested by task force troops in a serving senator’s house …,” the statement said of the arrest on Thursday.
“He is in the custody of the (task force) and assisting in the investigation and has since made startling revelations.”
In November 2011, Nigerian secret police said they had arrested an alleged Boko Haram spokesman with ties to a member of parliament. The alleged links however appeared to involve local politics in Nigeria’s northeast.
Nigerian authorities frequently exaggerate their efforts in arresting or cracking down on Boko Haram, which has carried out scores of bombings and shootings.
Violence linked to Boko Haram’s insurgency in northern and central Nigeria, including killings by security forces, is believed to have left more than 2,800 people dead since 2009.

280M DOLLARS SUBSIDY SCAM:IFEANYI UBA AND OTHERS SHOULD NOT BE BAILED----POLICEeE

A Federal High Court in Lagos will today hear the bail application filed by the Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas Ltd, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Uba and four others who are currently being detained by the police on the order of Tinubu Magistrates' Court over alleged oil subsidy fraud application by the Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas, Dr. Ifeanyi Uba and four others aruguing that the money they stole is more than the monthly federal allocation of 11 states!

This was contained in an affidavit sworn to by the police. However, counsel to Uba, Mr Joseph  Nwobike, SAN, asked the court not to be swayed by the police as the case Uba and his co-accused are being tried for is a bailable offence.
Stating that the monies that Uba and his co-accused stole was over $280 Million, the Police counsel said that the bail application shold be denied because Uba's counsel conceleaked the fact that that they were detained on the order of a magistrate court, and moreover the police's case would be jeopardized if the suspects are released as they would interfere with the police investigations using their considerable stolen wealth.
The police allege that Uba made such a huge killing from the subsidy regime by falsifying shipping documents to fool the affected government agencies to the effect that he had imported and delivered products that his firm had not delivered.
NaijaPundit also discovered that the suspect, Ifeanyi Uba, is gunning to be the next Anambra goernor and successor to current Governor Peter Obi.

FIVE THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR IN TONIGHT AMERICAN PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

Here are five things to watch for on Tuesday:
1. Connecting with the audience

Unlike the first presidential showdown in Denver two weeks ago, this debate will include a town hall audience of approximately 80 undecided voters, some of whom will get the chance to ask questions to the two candidates.
It's a completely different dynamic than the first face-off between the president and the Republican nominee.
"The challenge is that they've got to connect, not just with the people that are looking into the television and watching them, but to the people that are on the stage with them,
