Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State, on Thursday, said that the
state would soon make a presentation to the Federal Government on how to
exploit the crude oil discovered in commercial quantity in the state.
Speaking to journalists
in the course of the National Economic
Council meeting presided over by Vice President Namadi Sambo at the
Presidential Villa, Abuja, Wamakko said the state was happy with the
discovery.
He added that details of the discovery would be made public as soon
as the presentation was made to the Federal Government and made
available for exploration work.
It will be recalled that Wamakko had, on Tuesday in Sokoto, hinted that there was abundant crude oil deposit in his state.
The governor said that the oil deposits, when fully explored and
exploited, would boost the socio-economic status of the people of the
state and the country’s economy.
