In the wake of attacks on churches in the country by the Islamic
sect, Boko Haram, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian
Life Ministry, Pastor Williams Kumuyi has called on Christians not to be
afraid as God will fight for them.
Kumuyi, who preached at a Bible Study in Kogi State, Nigeria said
Christians should not allow the attack on them to make them shun church
activities, saying that at such a time as this, Christians must cast
away all fear and put their trust in God.
Preaching on Reaching the Promised
Land by Faith, the cleric said
those members of his church killed in Okene, Kogi State had gone to
heaven, saying that God would guide and protect His children until they
join the others in heaven.
Kumuyi stated that since attacks on Christians in the country have
escalated, reports of fear have spread across the land, stressing that
the same thing happened in the time of the children of Israel while in
the wilderness when some people brought sad stories that brought fear
into the hearts of the people.
“Don’t allow people to put fear in your heart. We are for signs and
wonders in this land. Evil reports should not drive us away. What are
people telling you? Are you going to Bible Study again after this
attack? We will not give up.
“Reports of fear in the land have the potential of eroding the
courage and faith of believers and discouraging them from regular
attendance at fellowships and faithfulness to the Lord. So, believers
need not allow reports of fear to cancel their faith but remember great
blessings they have received from the Lord.
“Entry to the heavenly city remains the ultimate purpose of God for
our lives that will give value to all the miracles we have enjoyed in
the course of our pilgrimage on earth. The reports of fear generate evil
desire and lead to decision to return to bondage in believers who are
not steadfast,” he said.
“Believers who obey and do not live by fear-inspiring reports will
experience signs and wonders. Believers must not be frightened by evil
reports but abide in the Lord and His service till the end,” he added.
Kumuyi said instead of Christians fearing the insurgents, they should
take the gospel of Jesus Christ to every nook and cranny of the nation
as God would defend and fight for them.
“Faith and fear cannot travel together. As Christians, we must
possess a mind that is different from those who give evil report; we
must have conviction, courage and faith in the Lord to be able to
possess the Promised Land.”
