POWER DISTRIBUTION SALE: WE WOULD NOT ALLOW THEM TO OPERATE---STATE GOVERNORS

Reactions have started coming in over the privatization of the distributing plants all over the country. Speaking in Abuja, the governors said the privatisation process, as conducted by the BPE, was fraudulent and unacceptable.
They governors stated that they had presented a common bid for the distribution company which they argue that state governments, who have invested heavily in the sector,
should participate in the power sector.
The governors warned that the company, Vigeo Power Consortium, which was adjudged to have won the bid covering the four states, will not be allowed to operate in the states.
The BPE and National Council on Privatisation (NCP) on Tuesday approved the technical bid evaluation of a total of 21 firms for the various distribution companies, ahead of the financial bid ceremony for the 10 electricity distribution companies across the country.
The electricity distribution firms proposed for sale are located in Ibadan, Ikeja, Abuja, Enugu, Jos, Eko, Port Harcourt, Yola, Kano, Benin and Kaduna.
