Donald Trump has closed the gap ever-so-slightly between him and Hillary Clinton, according to a new poll.
In the latest NBC News/SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking poll, Clinton has 48 percent support to Trump's 42 percent — a 6-point lead. Last week, Clinton led by 8 points.
Trump is even closer in a four-way general election matchup,
which Clinton leads 41-37. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson earns 11
percent of the vote and Green Party candidate Jill Stein has 5 percent.
The poll shows that most voters are loyal to their party, but
also shows registered independents are still open to changing their
minds. Though Clinton still leads among this group of voters, Trump has
made gains. This week, Clinton leads 37-33 percent, down from her 40-32
lead two weeks ago.
