MY VIEW: THE SAGA BETWEEN FAROUK LAWAN AND FEMI OTEDOLA

Wonder, shall never end as the people say, especially in this part of the world. Former president Olusegun Obasanjo made a profound statement on the integrity of the national assembly in one of the recent summits in Lagos. He referred the honorable members of the assemblies( state and federal)as rogues and armed robbers. That how could the people expect them to make good laws that would improve their lot? The comment shocked the dailies the next day and became the debate of the moment. Of cause it affected the honorable members of the house. To challenge that comment, one of the men in the federal house said that it was because they never allowed the third term bill to go through was the reason for the comment.  He said as far as he was concerned, he was not an armed robber or rogue.
I thought it was just a mere statement until the issue of a video proof was brought out. on Monday. It is still a shock to me and to a lot of Nigerians that are admirers Of honorable Lawan Farouk  . This is a man that I held in a highj esteem. He is one of the most experienced members of the house. Therefore, So much was expected of him. My notch for him increased greatly in the way and manner he handled the subsidy probe. I am still dazed with this on going allegation against him.
He did not deny the fact that he collected the money or bribe. He was only saying that he collected it to entrap the cabal as exhibit. The question is, why did he have to keep quiet that long, for over two months? Even if he did not want to carry the general public along at the early stage, why would he have to hide it from his colleagues?  Why keeping quiet until it was blown up by Femi Otedola? Was it truly a set-up to nail him for his good work?  Is Obasanjo not vindicated on his profound statement on the house of assemblies? Are they truly rogues? Many question but few answers.
If we remember vividly, the first SEC probe that eventually ended as bazaar of allegations, the Director G eneral of the SEC, Ms. Arunma Oteh publicly accused and challenged the morality and integrity of the probe panel. The former chairman of the panel, Honorable Hemam Hembe was alleged to have collected a huge amount of money from the SEC for a foreign trip, which he did not go and yet did not refund the money to the pulse.  Is it an issue of pot calling kettle black? Because if a limping masquerader enters into the house, and a limping person comes out, how do you prove to me that it was not the limping masquerader that entered the house that came out? It is disheartening.
And if truly Femi Otedola was truly on a mission to bribe the committee members to save the heads of the so called cabal, should he be allowed to walk freely on our roads? Is bribery not a crime again in our constitution? What is the role of the police in this allegation? Is bribery something to boast and brag about as he is doing currently?  Those culprits of Siemens’ bribery scandal in Germany were not spared and those involved in Halliburton’s saga in the United States were sent to jail. Why is our own different here?
I do not know how this fierce will end but pending the clarity of this whole saga, the subsidy report must be allowed to stand and worked on and those involved be brought to justice. But for hourable Lawan Farouk, if truly your hands are clean in this saga, only time will tell. But until then, I am afraid to tell you that you remain a suspect in an average mind. You should not have kept quiet that long. I think the so called cabal got you on this. If you do a good thing at the wrong time, the result will be wrong and if you do a right thing at the wrong time, the result will be wrong as well.  You actually served into their hands. You kept quiet for too long. But if your hands are stained, then it is bad omen for Nigeria. Who can be trusted?

  1. Nice one! I believe farouk lawan is guilty! Reason?...:is excuses sound like an afterthought, why wasn't he wired with some tape recorder or secret camera while going for the money so he can nail femi otedola with hard evidence? He could have gone to bring $620,000 from anywhere just to implicate otedola and he didn't speak about it to the relevant authorities on ground. Its obvious otedola's was better ochestrated and farouk lawan walked right into it. GREED!!! According to reports, the chairman of the house committee on apropriation has disowned him saying lawan didn't write any letter to him that anyone was trying to bribe him. He should just respect himself and own up like ibori instead of wasting his time and prolonging his sentencing day.
